LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — A 46-year-old Newark man was killed in a crash in Licking County on Tuesday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, William Coss and a woman were traveling northbound on state Route 661 in a 2007 Honda Civic just before 7 p.m. At the same time, a woman driving a 2023 Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on Route 661.

OSHP says Coss’ Honda went off the right side of the road, returned to the road, and drove left of center. The woman driving the Jeep swerved to avoid Coss’ Honda, but hit the vehicle’s rear.

The Honda traveled off the west side of the road and overturned, ejecting Coss and the woman.

The woman driving the Jeep traveled off the east side of the road and hit a mailbox.
