PROSPERITY — Around two weeks ago, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office received an unusual call.
A large snake was on the loose and was last seen crossing U.S. Highway 76 near Mid-Carolina High School . Sheriff’s deputies went to investigate, but by the time they got there the reptile in question was gone.
The person who spotted the snake had snapped a photo and showed it to the sheriff’s deputies.
“It was a huge snake obviously, not a native snake,” Sheriff Lee Foster told The Post and Courier.
It was then that Warren Gallman, a local man with a farm that had all kinds of animals, took it upon himself to find the snake. “He said, ‘I’m going to find (it),’” Foster said.
