The Brief:

Sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Green Lake County Courthouse for Ryan Borgwardt, 45, on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

Investigators say Borgwardt staged his disappearance on Aug. 12, 2024, then traveled through Madison and Detroit before flying to Europe; he later reportedly lived in the country of Georgia and returned to the U.S. in December 2024.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of nine months in jail, a $10,000 fine, or both.
