Cyndi Lauper didn’t headline a show in Vancouver for some time after her 1983 breakout debut She’s So Unusual.
But the singer behind such classics as She Bop and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun left a lasting impression on local fans when she opened for Tina Turner on May 27, 1997, at Rogers Arena, then known as GM Place. Earlier in the day, Vancouver Sun photographer Peter Battistoni had captured the pop star at her hotel room, looking stylish as ever.
