From the mountains — Messrs. Hale, Douglas, Bragg and Day, yesterday returned from a two weeks’ tour among the lakes and valleys of the Sierras. As heretofore noticed, their route was around Lake Tahoe to Fallen Leaf Lake, Cascade, American River and Hope Valley. They report having had a delightful excursion, and the weather was decidedly cool in the mountains for the last few days. Some mornings their blankets were whitened by frost.

All sorts. Yesterday, Tom Alley had a finger cut off at the box factory. Since the rain, the Carson River mills have been able to resume operations. The bates thresher has secured a new engine and is again in operation. The old engine is lying alongside Raycraft’s stables.
