OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - 30 years ago today, an Omaha Police officer was killed in the line of duty.
Jimmy Wilson Jr. was shot by a known gang member before he was able to get out of his patrol car near 40th and Blondo on August 20, 1995.
The shooter is still in prison, serving a life sentence.
Officer Wilson was 24 years old at the time, and had been with OPD for only 16 months.
He attended Westside High School, graduated from Creighton, and was a third-generation police officer.
