Two Fort Lauderdale Police officers were hospitalized after they crashed into each other early Wednesday, officials said.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of W. Las Olas Boulevard.

As a result of the crash, one vehicle caught fire and the other slammed into a pole, police said. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and transported both officers to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Photos released by fire rescue officers showed both vehicles with heavy damage outside a convenience store.

Crews were seen later Wednesday morning putting up support columns to secure the building's overhang.
