FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers not to eat certain shrimp products sold at Walmart, including in Kentucky, due to possible radioactive contamination.

The recall affects three lots of Great Value raw frozen shrimp with a best-by date of March 15, 2027. The products were distributed across 13 states.

Health officials say repeated low-dose exposure to Cesium-137 can increase cancer risk. Anyone who believes they may have been exposed is urged to contact their doctor.

The contamination was first detected when U.S. Customs identified the radioactive material in shipping containers. The FDA later confirmed it in shrimp imported from Indonesia.

The agency emphasized that no other shrimp in the U.S. food supply has tested positive. M
