Jessie J has opened up about how breast cancer has "robbed her" of time with her son.
The Price Tag hitmaker has opened up about her early breast cancer diagnosis, which she publicly revealed in early June.
Jessie, who has been recovering from a full mastectomy that she underwent later that month, discussed her diagnosis in a new episode of Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast.
The episode, released on Wednesday, was recorded in two parts, first in May, shortly after the singer's diagnosis, and later after her surgery.
Talking about the effect the diagnosis has had on her life, Jessie said that she had missed spending time with her two-year-old son, Sky, whom she has with her partner, Chanan Colman.
"Yesterday I sobbed. I feel like I can't be a mum to my son and I miss him," the 37-year-old told host Jamie. "I feel like cancer has robbed me of memories with my boy."
Jessie continued, "I have missed stuff with the treatment and stuff moves so fast when you have a toddler. Some days are awful."
The Do It Like a Dude singer went on to reveal that there were times when she didn't think she was going to survive.
"I had moments where I thought, 'This is going to go left and I'm going to die,'" she admitted, before adding that these moments had also helped her to grow as a person.
"But I weirdly kind of enjoy bad things happening to me sometimes as it means I need to grow," Jessie continued. "I believe bad things happen to me so I can help other people who will then go through it."
Reflecting on her initial reaction to her diagnosis, Jessie shared that she immediately "burst into tears".
"The doctors had said it was probably just a cyst, so I wasn't too worried," she divulged. "The lump was about 4-5 centimetres of cancer."
Jessie recently revealed that she will need to undergo more surgery.
