The death of a 9-year-old Elijah Flores who fell at a CTA Green Line station on the Near West Side has been ruled a homicide, officials said.

An autopsy determined Elijah died of multiple blunt force injuries to the head from falling down stairs due to an assault, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The death of Elijah, who was officially declared dead at 12:30 p.m. August 16 at Lurie Children’s Hospital, was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Surveillance video showed Elijah exit a Green Line train with a companion, Jonah Soria, 22, who was arguing with two other men around 11:15 a.m. August 10 at 540 W. Lake St., police said.

As the argument turned physical, the two men chased Soria and Elijah, who ran from the Clinton station platform.
