After several days of severe disruption caused by a cabin crew strike, Air Canada has restarted operations across its network. The walkout, which began over the weekend, forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights and affected hundreds of thousands of travelers. With services now resuming, the airline is rolling out an “ exceptional policy ” to help affected passengers cover expenses from the disruption.
The strike ended on Tuesday, August 19, when the airline and the union reached an agreement. Although flights are running again, the airline has warned that it could take up to ten days before schedules fully stabilize. Air Canada estimates that at least half a million passengers were affected during the disruption.
