WEST SAINT PAUL, Minn. — It's that time of year again... back-to-school season.

But before your kids leave the house, you have to make sure they're equipped with backpacks, notebooks, pencils and more. In a recent Deloitte survey , parents expect to spend about $570 in school supplies for each child.

If you're hoping to save some money this year, Eco Chico owner Krystell Thiesen Escobar shared some tips with KARE 11 News at Noon on Wednesday.

Thiesen Escobar advised parents to make a list of what supplies can be reused and what they need to purchase. As a parent of three boys, she said her family compiles existing fall clothes, school supplies and sports equipment before making any new back-to-school purchases.
