LIBERTY, Kan. (KAKE) - A sheriff's office says there have been no arrests after five dog were found shot to death at a river dam six weeks ago.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded the night of July 9 to the Verdigris River at McTaggerts Dam, northwest of Liberty, where they found the animals. The day after the discovery, Sheriff Ron Wade said the dogs had been "brutally shot and left to die—discarded like trash, their lifeless bodies lying in the open for all to see."
