NEZ PERCE COUNTY, Idaho – Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision on Highway 12 near milepost 17.5 that left one dead and two with serious injuries.

The crash happened on August 19 at 4:11 p.m. A black 2025 Subaru Forester occupied by an 80-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman from Peck was traveling east when it drifted over the center line and hit a gray 2024 Ford Bronco with a 55-year-old woman from Lewiston in it.

The Ford rolled onto its side and caught on fire while the Subaru fell into a ditch by the eastbound lane.

Bystanders helped rescue the woman from the flaming Ford Bronco and she was transported to the local hospital.

The woman in the Subaru was also taken to the hospital by air ambulance for her injuries. The man died at the scene.
