UPDATE: August 20 at 3:10 p.m.

As of Wednesday, the Sun Country Fire near Cle Elum has reached 72 acres and is under control.

Incident Commander Chris Hutsell reported that the fire, which began on Monday, August 18, is currently 10 percent contained.

Multiple fires erupted along I-90, affecting the Sun Country and Little Creek areas.

State mobilization was approved, and the Southeast Washington Type 3 Incident Management Team took command on August 19.

Despite gusty winds, no growth was seen overnight, said Hutsell.

The Little Creek Fire, covering 7 acres, is also 10 percent contained and will soon be put into a patrol and monitor status.
