SOUTHWEST Airlines has ditched yet another direct route to a busy state capital, and some flyers will have to add an extra connection.

The service update is just the latest in a string of changes that the airline is rolling out this year.

In August, Southwest revealed that dozens of routes would be ditched in a massive company shift to boost revenue.

The Denver, Colorado-based brand insisted that the busiest flights would be kept and that the changes would be beneficial to customers.

One airport hit hard by the change is the St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

Southwest is ditching six different nonstop services to the port, including one popular route from Des Moines, Iowa.
