VETERAN quarterback Nate Sudfeld has joined the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal.

Sudfeld previously spent time with the 49ers in 2021 as part of the practice squad.

He was also part of the offseason program and training camp in 2022 before being released.

The 31-year-old spent the rest of 2022 and 2023 with the Detroit Lions , but his second campaign was cut short due to an ACL injury.

He was then released as part of final roster cuts last summer.

One year on, Sudfeld has re-joined his former team in time for the 2025 season.

The quarterback has signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.

He is set to play back-up to starter Brock Purdy .

Fellow 49ers quarterback Mac Jones missed practice this week so could be absent for the team's final pre-season game agains
