Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo Region’s townships lifted its temporary fire ban due to recent rain and cooler temperatures.

The fire ban ends Wednesday, though residents are reminded to:

Closely monitor your fire and extinguish it when you’re finished.

Always have a water source nearby, like a hose or pail.

Only burn bush material, including tree limbs, branches or logs made for fireplaces.

Keep fires five metres away from fences, structures, hedges, etc.

The fire ban was enacted for Kitchener and Cambridge at 4 p.m. Aug. 8 — the townships the day before — following a series of discussions with fire chiefs from across the region “to develop a co-ordinated approach to prioritize public safety,” a media release said.
