Best Buy just launched a third-party marketplace that allows it to go toe-to-toe with rivals such as Target in previously unexplored categories.

Best Buy has more than doubled its online inventory through its new marketplace, with products including kitchenware, seasonal décor, and licensed sports merchandise from Fanatics, the Richfield-based electronics retailer announced on Tuesday.

Best Buy Marketplace, powered by e-commerce software company Mirakl, features items from third-party sellers, like SkyMall, alongside Best Buy merchandise on the company's website and app.

Customers order products as usual on Best Buy's website or app and receive them in the mail. Products purchased through a third-party seller can be returned to a Best Buy store, or customers can ship it back to the sell
