(Gray Louisiana) - Sony Interactive Entertainment is raising the price of the PlayStation 5 in the U.S.

In an announcement , Sony says the new recommended retail prices will go into effect Thursday, Aug. 21:

PlayStation 5: $549.99

PlayStation 5 Digital Edition: $499.99

PlayStation 5 Pro: $749.99

The update marks the first U.S. price increase for Sony’s flagship gaming console since launch. The company says the decision was made in response to “a challenging economic environment.”

Accessory prices will remain the same.
