Authorities are investigating after a social media post allegedly depicted acts of animal cruelty in Pittsburgh’s Northview Heights neighborhood.

The video shows individuals “attaching mice to fireworks with duct tape and igniting the devices, which resulted in the animals being killed,” according to Pittsburgh Public Safety. The mice were reportedly purchased at a local pet store.

Violence Prevention Unit detectives were alerted about the post at 5 p.m. on Aug. 13, officials said.

Detectives responded to the 410 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, where the incident was believed to have occurred.

At the scene, investigators allegedly found a plastic bin, fireworks remnants and a roll of tape.
