As Michigan faces a potential government shutdown amid a budget impasse , Senate Democrats once again are calling on House Republicans to reveal their proposed plan to fund the state government.
“With 42 days until Oct. 1, there is no other option now than to be efficient,” Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks, D-Grand Rapids, said Wednesday, contrasting efficiency with deliberativeness. “So imagine my incredulity when I read a press release from the House Appropriations chair saying that they are preparing to announce a budget plan. Preparing to announce. And then her own speaker undercut her shortly thereafter and said he’ll need even more time. It is truly unbelievable.”
