The Carolina Panthers have signed quarterback Bryce Perkins just days before the Pittsburgh Steelers head to Charlotte for their final preseason game. Panthers backup quarterback Andy Dalton suffered an elbow injury, meaning he could miss Thursday’s game.
Perkins is coming off a fantastic season with the Michigan Panthers. He was the United Football League MVP, and led the Panthers to the UFL Championship before being defeated by the DC Defenders.
Perkins had 1342 passing yards and 269 rushing yards with 4 total touchdowns in seven games with the Panthers. In his postseason starts, he racked up 576 passing yards and five more touchdowns through the air.
An undrafted free agent out of Virginia in the 2020 NFL Draft, Perkins started his career with the Los Angeles Rams. He spent the
