EVERETT — The Port of Everett is partnering with EarthCorps , a Seattle-based restoration organization, for a volunteer event at Union Slough on Saturday.
In 2005, the port constructed the 24-acre restoration site as mitigation for development of the port’s Pacific Terminal at the international seaport. The restoration work restored tidal flow to former farmland in the mouth of the Snohomish River, providing critical estuary habitat for juvenile salmon.
The port and EarthCorps host regular volunteer events at the site for continued monitoring of the area.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, volunteers can help remove invasive species and learn about how the restoration site supports various types of native wildlife. Registration is required and can be done online at https://www.volunte
