Two parents are facing neglect charges tied to separate cases this summer that resulted in two toddlers dead after getting hold of their parents' firearms.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office announced Aug. 20, 2025, that chargesof neglect of a dependent, a level 1 felony, were filed against Keiara Bickett and Leon’ta Anderson.

"Two children are gone, two families are shattered, and it never should have happened,” said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears in a news release about the charges. "Safe storage and responsible gun owner are not optional — it’s a matter of life and death."
