Tracy Forde rolled into the Apache Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC seated behind the wheel of a 32-foot RV. The grassy lot with oceanfront views was filled with campsites decorated with fire pits, picnic tables, Trump signs and travelers celebrating Memorial Day 2024. On the way to her assigned spot, Forde noticed a few Confederate flags hanging from the sides of vehicles.

When she began to set up camp, Forde clocked a small group of white men next to Harley motorcycles watching her every move. One of the silent observers finally spoke up. “What are you doing here?” the biker asked. “What are you doing here?” Forde replied. “You drive that?” he asked. “Do you see anybody else driving it?” she replied directly.
