Infrastructure is often an afterthought until the lights and heat don’t work, and at a big, regional hospital like Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, such things play a critical role.
To that end, an infusion of nearly $100 million in upgrades is coming to CMC in one of its largest capital investments in history, officials announced.
After years of losing money and struggling to stay afloat , CMC is now part of HCA Healthcare, the largest for-profit health care system in the U.S. HCA promised to invest in the 330-bed hospital, which was founded on Manchester’s West Side in 1974 and has a legacy dating back to 1892.
Wednesday’s announcement brings with it $43.4 million to modernize the hospital’s power, heating and cooling systems, as well as $46.5 million for equipment upgrades
