U.S. Customs and Border Patrol intercepted 11 pounds of rodent meat and 52 pounds of primate meat at the Metropolitan Airport at the end of July 2025.

Bushmeat, meat from wild animals such as bats and non-human primates, is illegal to import because it can be infected, according to CBP and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Eleven pounds of rodent meat and 52 pounds of primate meat were intercepted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport in July, according to the federal agency.
