(NewsNation) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom's chances at becoming the 2028 Democratic nominee are increasing, at least according to prediction market site Kalshi.

Newsom's odds of representing Democrats on the next presidential ballot spiked over the last three days, rising to 27%.

Kalshi calculates odds based on contacts in the prediction market and Newsom's are now at the top, with some distance between himself and other possible nominees.

Newsom has been in the news recently amid a redistricting battle that began in Texas and has moved nationwide.
