ROME, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- A Clinton woman was arrested on Wednesday after a two-week investigation into an abandoned dog at the Rome Humane Society.

New York State Police responded to the Humane Society on Lamphear Road on Thursday, August 7 regarding a report of a dog that had been abandoned outside the facility after hours. A preliminary investigation found that the dog -- later identified as "Ollie" -- had been abandoned there just before 5 pm.

Video surveillance showed that at approximately the time of abandonment, a female suspect -- later identified as 49-year-old Ashley Stewart of Clinton -- is shown exiting a vehicle and tying Ollie to the fence of the Humane Society. After securing the dog, Stewart drove away from the area.
