A grieving mother said her son, who was shot and killed by a Newton police officer in June, was a car and motorcycle enthusiast that loved his family.
Melissa Childers, of Stanley, is the mother of 21-year-old Camden Skyler Childers. Camden Childers was shot and killed by Newton Police Lt. Carlos Alverto Uribe on June 26, according to court documents.
“Not only did he (Uribe) ruin my family, he didn't think about his own family,” Melissa Childers said. "He has a wife that's going to have to raise kids by herself, but at least her children, his children, will still be able to come see him behind bars. My child is in an urn.”
Uribe, 28, of Conover, is charged with second-degree murder in Camden Childers’s death. He was indicted on the charge on July 21. Uribe was fired from the Newton Pol
