The Winston-Salem police and fire departments were called to an explosion in a parking lot off University Parkway on Wednesday morning.

According to Assistant Chief Andrew Gray, a coffee truck exploded just before 7:27 a.m., and four people who were in the truck were injured. The conditions of the victims were not provided.

Gray said the WSPD bomb squad was already in the area for training and heard the explosion. It responded to provide aid to the victims.

Additionally, 31 firefighters responded.

Students and their families were arriving at Wake Forest University for move-in day on Wednesday morning. Maj. Jamie Herring of Wake Forest University police said families were contacted with a detour:
