The Lafayette City Council on Tuesday welcomed the newest members to its Youth Advisory Board, a way for community teens to advise the council on youth education, civic involvement and leadership opportunities.

The council agreed to move the Youth Advisory Board matter to the beginning of its Aug. 19 meeting agenda, given it was a school night. Eleven new appointees were made, and Councilmember Crystal Gallegos noted the board’s diversity, pointing out this year’s appointees represent five different schools, “including the neurodiverse and home school communities.”
