The University of South Dakota is planning to get a new indoor track and field facility after T. Denny Sanford gave $20 million to Coyote Athletics for one named after the Gassen Family.
A new fieldhouse named for USD alumni Bill and Jill Gassen -- the Gassen Family Fieldhouse -- will need Board of Regents approval, but plans are underway for the facility to feature a 200-meter banked track, 60-meter straightaway, long jump and triple jump pits, two pole vaulting stations, two high jumps over straightaways and a pair of throwing cages.
The fieldhouse will also fit elevated seating for 2,000 spectators, a viewing concourse, coach offices, a recruiting lounge, training and nutrition center, and locker rooms. It’ll also benefit softball and women’s tennis programs with batting cages and pra
