Longtime CBS standards and practices executive Carol Altieri has died at her home in Palm Desert, Calif. after a long illness. She was 76.
Altieri died Aug. 9, CBS confirmed.
A native of Queens who grew up on Long Island, Altieri spent 35 years at CBS, rising through the ranks of its program practices department. She joined the Tiffany network in 1969 in New York as an executive assistant during the heady days when CBS leaders William Paley and Frank Stanton were among the most powerful forces in media.
Altieri was promoted to editor in 1974 and to senior editor in 1977. She moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and was promoted to VP of program practices in 1984. Altieri retired as senior VP in 2005.
