SMITHVILLE, Mo. (KCTV) - Investigators are scouring a lake in Smithville, hoping to find clues into the disappearance of a man who was last seen in early 2022.

The Smithville Police Department announced on Wednesday, Aug. 10, that it requested the help of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in connection with a year-old missing persons case.

Investigators said crews began to search a pond in the area after a tip was received in connection with missing person Ryan Weeks , who was last seen in February 2022.

Smithville Police said the dive team searched the water and secured the area. Community members were asked to avoid the area and allow investigators to do their jobs safely.
