DAWSON COUNTY, Neb. (KNOP) - A woman was killed after she was struck by an SUV while walking on Highway 30 near Lexington, authorities say.
According to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement was called to Highway 30 and Road 436 in reference to a vehicle pedestrian accident just after 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Deputies contacted Cristofer G. Guzman 19, of Lexington, who advised he struck a person walking on the highway.
A preliminary investigation shows a Grand Cherokee Jeep driven by Guzman was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 near Road 436 when he struck Angelina Navarrete-Chavez who was walking in the lane of travel on Highway 30.
Deputies found Angelina Navarrete-Chavez, 19, of Lexington, and began life-saving measures. She was transported to Lexington Regional by ambulance
