AUSTIN, Texas — One person was killed and another was critically injured in a South Austin house fire on Wednesday afternoon, fire officials say.

According to officials with the Austin Fire Department, the incident happened at 8201 Edgemoor Place, near MoPac Expressway and Davis Lane.

Officials with Austin-Travis County EMS said one person was extricated from the home by AFD and was pronounced dead at the scene. One other person inside the home was transported to St. David’s South Austin in critical condition.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

As of around 4:55 p.m., AFD said the fire was extinguished and contained to a bathroom.
