AUSTIN, Texas — Austin's public transit agency is giving staff more clarity when it comes to handling unruly passengers on buses and trains.

CapMetro decided to update its code of conduct rules by changing up the language. The original code of conduct had a list of rules, but now it has two separate sections: Prohibited Activities and Common Courtesy.

The reason for the revision was to give staff a clearer picture of what is and isn't allowed, according to Chief of Safety Gardner Tabon.

"What's changing is [riders will] begin to see additional signage at our transit centers, on our buses, our trains, etc., so that way people actually know, because there wasn't a huge presence," said Tabon.

Tabon added that transit operators and bus drivers will have more insight on what actions are
