CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Guardians rookie Parker Messick went 6.2 innings in his MLB debut Wednesday, allowing just 1 run to the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.
Arizona won the series finale 3-2 in 10 innings.
Messick, 24, threw 83 pitches and fanned 6 with his family watching in the stands.
Cleveland took a 2-1 lead to the 9th when Lourdes Gurriel tied it with a solo homer off Cade Smith.
The Guardians (64-61, 33-31 on the road) are off Thursday then head to Texas for a weekend series with the Rangers.
