A 4-year-old was taken to the hospital Tuesday after being shot as two other people exchanged gunfire near Apopka, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of North Park Avenue around 6:20 p.m. after reports of a shooting. They were told two people fired guns near East Virgil Street, and the child was struck, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The child, who was not identified, is in stable condition, it said..
