PISCATAWAY – Rutgers football is down an offensive lineman before the 2025 season has even begun.
Coach Greg Schiano announced Wednesday that Ryder Langsdale, a Ridgewood product who was expected to be in the mix for the open left tackle spot, has suffered an injury and will be out for the season. Langsdale underwent surgery.
The 6-foot-7, 298-pound Langsdale transferred from Lafayette during the offseason – Langsdale started all 35 games the past three seasons at his previous school.
The Scarlet Knights brought Langsdale to the program hoping he could be an option to replace Hollin Pierce, who’s now with the Philadelphia Eagles.
It remains to be seen who will be Rutgers’ starting left tackle for the season opener against Ohio on Aug. 28 at SHI Stadium.
