WASHINGTON - Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott on Tuesday celebrated the cryptocurrency industry’s role in defeating his predecessor, telling a crypto conference in Wyoming that he was “really looking forward to” working with the industry after they “got rid of” the committee’s former Democratic chair, Ohio’s Sherrod Brown.

“Thank you, to all of y’all, for getting rid of Sherrod Brown,” Scott, a South Carolina Republican, told the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium. “He’s running again, by the way, but literally, the industry put Bernie Moreno in the Senate, and he’s on the banking committee.”

Scott’s praise for Westlake Republican Moreno, who defeated Brown with heavy crypto industry backing, signals the new direction of the Banking Committee under Republican control.
