Heading into their preseason finale on Friday against the Tennessee Titans, the Minnesota Vikings have traded away a player that’s been a very solid contributor over the past couple of seasons in a move that, honestly, I’m not sure I understand.
Per numerous sources, led by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Vikings have traded defensive lineman Harrison Phillips to the New York Jets. In return, the Vikings will receive a 2026 sixth-round pick and a “swap of picks in 2027,” though I’m not 100% sure what that means at this point.
Phillips was signed by the Vikings as a free agent before the start of the 2022 season after he started his career with the Buffalo Bills. He signed a three-year contract that offseason, and signed a two-year extension with the Vikings in September of last yea
