Clark County has agreed to pay an additional $2.2 million to three Public Works employees who say they have been subjected to racial slurs, verbal attacks and harassment.

More details of the settlement have not yet been made available.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, a Los Angeles-based civil rights organization, filed suit on behalf of Elias Peña, Isaiah Hutson and Ray Alanis in the U.S. District Court of Western Washington in June 2021.

In June 2023, a federal jury awarded $200,000 to each of the men after finding the county had created a hostile and biased workplace under Washington’s anti-discrimination laws. However, the jury did not find that the county violated federal civil rights laws.
