Fort Wayne Community Schools has a new role for about 170 high schoolers – and it comes with a blazer.

The sophomores, juniors and seniors gathered downtown Wednesday for an induction ceremony celebrating their participation in a student ambassador program championing Schools of Success.

Launched last year, the initiative prepares students for whatever they might pursue after graduation, such as college, military service, entrepreneurial ventures or employment.

The student ambassadors represent the district's five high schools. They will be a liaison between the school and the community, including potential business, nonprofit and government partners, said Matt Schiebel, executive director of safety and community partnerships.
