DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Students in Davenport start a new school year in less than a week, but classroom routines for many will be slightly different this year because of a new law signed by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.
The law says Iowa’s public schools must adopt a policy this academic year that, at minimum, bans the use of cell phones during class.
There are some exceptions to the ban for students with specialized education plans or if there is an emergency.
Many local school districts have already been putting this policy into practice .
