MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The City of Milford is installing cameras as part of a four-step strategic plan for crime prevention and safety.
The cameras which were recently installed are license plate scanners to identify stolen cars and stolen plates.
"License plate readers are very effective because the police officers will know in real time if it’s a stolen vehicle or stolen plate,” Milford Mayor Tony Giannattasio (R) said.
The solar powered cameras will be on streets near I-95 off ramps for the five exits that feed traffic into Milford, as well as areas near schools to keep the community safe.
