NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Kashunda has seen and experienced things many 19-year-olds haven't. It was six years ago that she lost her mom, Kissick Lowery, to a murder-suicide in North Little Rock.
Young Kashunda was on the scene of the crime, and you can imagine how that trauma has lingered throughout her life.
"Where would I be without you?" Kashunda said to Officer Norman. "I've seen a picture. My mom was shot right here in the head.”
Police said the man who took her mother's life and then turned the gun on himself was her stepfather.
"Her life has not been the same since,” Officer Norman explained. “She deals with a lot, but she hasn't given up. She's fought.”
Kashunda has battled with mental health, depression, and anxiety, but she's winning.
Looking at Kashunda, he says, "You cou
