A full auditorium of excited fans greeted local music standout Maddie Poppe when she took the stage at the Waverly-Shell Rock Middle School Aug. 18 for a free Back 2 School concert.
Originally scheduled to take place outdoors next to sponsor Denver Savings Bank on Fourth Street SW in Waverly, the event was moved indoors because of rain. The weather in no way dampened the crowd’s enthusiasm.
“I’m a big Maddie fan,” said Colleen Franzen of Waverly, sitting in the front row wearing a Maddie Poppe T-shirt. “I couldn’t decide what color shirt to wear tonight, because I have so many different ones, but I stuck with the original yellow.”
Fans showed up from Waverly, Shell Rock, Clarksville, Cedar Falls, Nashua, Plainfield, Tripoli, Hampton and elsewhere.
